  4. The DINOSAVER  Read Me file contains important information that
  5. is not included or that has been revised in the DINOSAVER User's
  6. Manual or in the online Help.

  9. System Requirements
  10.  
  11. The system requirements for DINOSAVER are:
  12.  
  13.      Windows 3.1
  14.      80386SX (or higher)
  15.      2 MB RAM (or more)
  16.      5.5 MB of disk space on your hard drive
  17.      SVGA  ( 256 Colors )
  18.       (Will run with 16 colors but 256 is highly recommended)

  21. Installation Problems:
  22.  
  23. The only known installation problem occurs when running Windows in Standard 
  24. mode on a PC with 2MB of RAM. In order to install DINOSAVER you must start
  25. Windows in Enhanced mode by typing "Win /3".

  29. Other Screen Savers:
  30.  
  31. Remember that only one screen saver at a time should be activated. Be
  32. sure to disable/turn off any other screen savers you may have before
  33. running DINOSAVER.

  38. Please assemble the following information before contacting our
  39. technical support staff:

  42.      Your problem description
  43.      Your hardware configuration
  44.      A copy of your "autoexec.bat" file
  45.      A copy of your "config.sys" file
  46.      A copy of your "win.ini" file

  50. Main Control Panel

  52. "Run All"
  53.  
  54. The "Run All" check box has been renamed to "Run Multiple
  55. Modules".  The functionality of the check box remains the same. 
  56. If you want to randomly run multiple modules, then you
  57. must click on the "Run Multiple Modules" check box.  
  58.  
  59. While "Run Multiple Modules" is checked, you may deselect a
  60. module by double clicking on its name.  This will remove the mark
  61. by the module name indicating that it is no longer selected.

  64. "Run Time"
  65.  
  66. Clicking on the "Run Multiple Modules" check box will cause the
  67. "Run Time" prompt to be displayed.  As you select the modules you
  68. want to run by double clicking, enter its corresponding "Run
  69. Time" value (ie. the number of minutes you want that particular
  70. module to run when it is randomly sequenced).  Initially, the
  71. "Run Time" is set to 2 minutes.  Once the module has been
  72. selected, an asterisk will be placed by the module name to
  73. indicate that it has been chosen.

  75. Remember: To specify the setup parameters of the selected module,
  76. click on the "Setup" key.

  79. "Clear All"
  80.  
  81. Clicking on the "Run Multiple Modules" check box will also cause
  82. the "Clear All" button to be displayed.  This button is used  to
  83. deselect the chosen modules.  The asterisk by each module will be
  84. removed indicating that the module is no longer selected.

  87. Security Log
  88.  
  89. DINOSAVER maintains a security log that documents when the screen
  90. saver becomes active. The name of the file containing the log is
  91. "DINOSAVE.LOG".  Each time the screen saver becomes active, the
  92. new date and time is appended to the existing file, thereby
  93. maintaining a history of DINOSAVER's use.

  96. Adding DINOSAVER Modules to the Windows Screen Saver
  97.  
  98. Since DINOSAVER is compatible with the Windows screen saver, its
  99. modules can be easily incorporated by following the directions
  100. below:

  102.      From the Windows directory (C:\WINDOWS), issue the command:
  103.       COPY C:\DINOSAVE\*.FSS *.SCR
  104.  
  105.      Run the Windows screen saver.  The modules you have added    
  106.      will be accessible through the Windows screen saver.

  109. Installing the Microsoft speaker driver
  110.  
  111. If your PC does not have the SOUNDBLASTER or the Microsoft speaker driver
  112. installed,  included is a self-extracting file containing the PC
  113. speaker driver from Microsoft.  Below are instructions to install it:
  114.  
  115.     1.  Create a directory for holding the speaker driver. e.g.
  116.         MKDIR \SPEAKER
  117.     2.  Copy SPEAK.EXE from \DINOSAVE into \SPEAKER
  118.     3.  Set your default into the newly created speaker directory
  119.         CD \SPEAKER
  120.     4.  Execute SPEAK.EXE from a DOS prompt, File Manager, or Program
  121.         Manager.
  122.     5.  From Windows, select Control Panel from the Main window.
  123.     6.  Double-click the Drivers Icon.
  124.     7.  Add a new driver.
  125.     8.  Highlight Unlisted or Updated Driver [first line].
  126.     9.  Type directory \SPEAKER and click OK.
  127.     10. Highlight Sound Driver for PC Speaker.
  128.     11. Press Test and wait for tone.  Increase maximum time if desired.  Press OK.
  129.     12. Restart windows for sound to take effect.
